Major changes and new features
Search settings
The settings for each search engine, on-line dictionary, on-line
encyclopaedia and local dictionary are no longer on the settings
window (tabs 1-10), where the general program settings are still found,
but are accessed through the archive: simply highlight the item required and hit Enter (or double-click) to open the new Edit window.
PluriSearch
The Express Shortcut key
(renamed
PluriSearch Shortcut key) now launches not one, but any number of
searches (almost) simultaneously.
1) Open Archive.
2) Select the searches
you would like to add to the PluriSearch (Pluri column).
3) Close Archive.
4) Launch with
PluriSearch Shortcut key or select PluriSearch button on the Choose
Type of Search window.
Direct shortcuts
It is now possible to
define specific shortcut key combinations for your favourite searches.
1) Open Archive.
2) Highlight the search
concerned.
3) Double click (or
press Enter).
4) Put cursor in Shortcut.
5) Press the required
key combination.
6) Press Save and close.
7) Close Archive.
Search
in local resources
IntelliWebSearch now has
a limited local resource search capability (dictionaries on CD-ROM/hard
disk).
1) Open Archive.
2) Choose Add new
search from the Edit menu.
3) Put the dictionary path
in Start, e.g. D:\LocalDictionary.exe.
4) Put the necessary key strokes in
Finish (for details see "Form Fill mode" in Adding New Searches), e.g. @{Enter}.
5) Copy (at least an
unambiguous
representative part of) what appears in the dictionary window title bar
when the dictionary is open into Window Title (Description), e.g.
LocalDictionary.
6) Set all other
settings as you would normally do (Encoding has no effect).
7) Press Save and close.
8) Close Archive.
More
buttons
It is now possible to
add searches to 5 groups of 10 buttons, effectively increasing the
number of buttons to 50!
1) Open Archive.
2) Highlight the search
concerned.
3) Choose the required group from the Add to/Remove
from… dropdown box.
4) Close Archive.
5) Open Choose Type of
Search window.
6) Choose the group name from
dropdown list (on the right of the PluriSearch button).
Pluses
If you wish,
IntelliWebSearch can now
automatically insert a plus sign in front of each word in the search
string to try to outsmart certain smart search engines.
1) Open Choose Type of
Search window.
2) Unselect Quotes?
(if selected).
3) Select Pluses?
You can't select quotes
and pluses together.
Interword separator
If you wish,
IntelliWebSearch can now
automatically insert a string, such as a Boolean operator, between the words in the search
string instead of single spaces.
1) Open Archive.
2) Highlight the search concerned.
3) Double click (or press Enter).
4) Type the string to insert into Interword Separator. If the string begins or ends with a space, enclose it in quotation marks.
5) Press Save and close.
6) Close Archive.
Easier
sharing
Easier ways of sharing
search configurations with colleagues.
Case
1 = you want to share your settings.
1) Open Archive.
2) Highlight the search whose settings you wish to share.
3) Choose Copy to
clipboard from the Share menu.
4) Start a new message
in your email client.
5) Paste the clipboard into the message
(usually Ctrl+V).
6) Send the message to your colleague.
7) Close Archive.
Case
2 = you want to copy someone else's settings.
1) Highlight a whole block of settings
(in an email, for example).
2) Copy the settings to the clipboard
(usually Ctrl+C).
3) Open Archive.
4) Choose Import
from clipboard from the Share menu.
5) Edit if you wish.
6) Press Save and close.
7) Close Archive.
New user's starter pack
Settings for over 60 search engines/dictionaries/encyclopaedias.
Old users may have them added to their existing settings if they wish.
Automatic/manual
update check
Easier to make sure you
always have the latest version.
Case
1 = manual.
1) Right click
IntelliWebSearch icon in system tray.
2) Choose Check for updates.
Case
2 = automatic.
1) Open Settings.
2) Set Check for
updates to Monthly or Weekly.
